The South Downs Summit: Devil’s Dyke to Ditchling Beacon
This is the ultimate test of South Downs endurance. We’re tackling a classic circular route that connects two icons: the dramatic, historic chasm of Devil’s Dyke and the sky-high summit of Ditchling Beacon.
This is no gentle stroll; it’s a relentless, hilly march across vast, open downland with no place to hide, designed to push your limits and reward every ounce of effort with some of the most spectacular, far-reaching views in England.
You’ll stand on the edge of the UK’s deepest dry valley and conquer the highest point in East Sussex, with the entire Weald spread beneath your feet.
Your Challenge, Sorted:
We meet at Brighton train station and journey up to Devil’s Dyke together. Meet there for 10am.
Trains from London are direct and take around an hour. The route is a satisfying loop, meaning we finish exactly where we started, perfect for a post-trek drink at the famous pub.
